Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect in Attack of Girl on Trail

A 17-year-old girl jogging on the trail in the woods of Malcolm King Park on May 27 was assaulted by a young man carrying a knife, according to Gaithersburg Police.

Detectives from the Gaithersburg Police Department are asking for the public's help in identifying a young man carrying a knife who reportedly attacked a teenage girl jogging on a trail.

The assault occurred about 4:30 p.m. May 27 on School Drive when a 17-year-old girl was jogging on the trail in the woods of Malcolm King Park. According to a police news release, the suspect approached her from behind, held a knife and attempted to pull her to the ground.

The victim fought back and was able to get away from the attacker, police said. He then fled on foot back into the woods.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 5’ 5”, 150 pounds, possibly 15 to 19 years old. He was last seen wearing a gray, hooded sweater with khaki pants and a black backpack.
