Customer Alerts Police to Pizza Hut Robbery

Suspect at large in armed robbery of Pizza Hut on Muddy Branch Road

Police were alerted to a hold-up in progress at a Pizza Hut by a customer who had called the restaurant to place an order and was told the restaurant was being robbed.

Gaithersburg Patch posted the initial story that Gaithersburg Police were investigating an armed robbery at the Pizza Hut at 299 Muddy Branch Road on Wednesday.

Montgomery County Police later said in a statement at its news blog:

At approximately 1:43 p.m. police received a call from a woman who had called the Pizza Hut to order a pizza. When her call was answered she was told that the store was being robbed and she could hear someone demanding money.

Gaithersburg and Montgomery County police responded to the restaurant, where a robber with a gun had demanded cash and left the restaurant on foot, according to Montgomery County Police.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male in his 20s, between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-10 and with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a cap and dark jacket.
