Report of Drowning Near Lakeforest Mall; Body Found in Retention Pond
A man's body was found Tuesday morning in a retention pond at Russell and Montgomery Village avenues near Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg.
A man’s body was found Tuesday morning in a stormwater runoff pond near Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg.
The pond is at Russell and Montgomery Village avenues.
Gaithersburg Police officer Dan Lane told Gazette.Net that officers were called to the scene at 10:30 a.m. and remain on the scene.

“We will know more later after an autopsy is performed by the medical examiner’s office,” Montgomery County Police Capt. Paul Starks told the website.
Homicide and forensic investigators are on the scene, according to Starks, and a cause of death is unclear at this point.

Authorities received a call about a possible drowning near Montgomery Village Avenue and Russell Avenue around 9:51 a.m., Montgomery County police told WNEW.
Gaithersburg Police assisted police and fire units from Montgomery County at the pond. A fire station is located close to the site where the man’s body was discovered.
