Southbound Muddy Branch Road was closed for a short time between Harmony Hall Road and W. Diamond Avenue after a Nissan Maxima rear-ended a Ride On bus, police said.

Traffic along southbound Muddy Branch Road between Harmoney Hall Road and W. Diamond Avenue was halted for a brief time Thursday afternoon because of a collision involving a Nissan Maxima and a Ride On bus, Montgomery County police said.

Police said the Maxima, driven by a 19-year-old male, crashed into the back of the bus around 12:45 p.m. when the driver failed to see that the bus was stopped and unloading passengers in the lane in front of him.

The driver of the Maxima had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
