School Bus and Mini-Van Collide, Send 7 to Hospital

No serious injuries in the head-on collision.

A school bus and a mini-van collided nearly head-on shortly after 3 this afternoon at the intersection of Rt. 124 and Midcounty Highway, County Fire and Rescue officials report.

Capt. Oscar Garcia, a Fire and Rescue spokesman, said the bus had seven occupants, including the driver.

The driver, a man in his 30s, and three children, were taken to a local hospital for a check up. They suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Garcia said.

The van was driven by a woman and there were two children, 3 and 5 years old, as passengers. All three were taken to a local hospital for a check up with non-life-threatening injuries, Garcia said.

He could not confirm if the bus involved was a Montgomery County Public School bus, but photos of the incident show the words "Montgomery County Schools" on the side.

Garcia did not know where the bus was coming from or where it was going.
