Suspect Arrested For Armed Robberies of Gaithersburg, Germantown Subway Restaurants

Timothy Luke Howell was charged for five armed robberies of Subway restaurants that have occurred since November.

Montgomery County police have arrested a suspect in connection with five armed robberies of Subway restaurants that have occurred in the Gaithersburg and Germantown areas since November.

Police said Timothy Luke Howell, 24, of no fixed address, is charged with the following armed robberies :

  1. Nov. 4, at approximately 9:15 a.m. – Subway, 19911 Frederick Road, Germantown
  2. Nov. 25, at approximately 5:35 p.m. – Subway, 501 N. Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg
  3. Dec. 2, at approximately 10:30 a.m. – Subway, 876 Muddy Branch Road, Gaithersburg
  4. Dec. 2, at approximately 8:35 p.m. – Subway, 19911 Frederick Road, Germantown
  5. Dec. 5, at approximately 4:26 p.m. – Subway, 876 Muddy Branch Road, Gaithersburg

Police said investigators believed all the robberies were committed by the same suspect. "In all of these robberies the suspect entered a Subway restaurant in Germantown or Gaithersburg, displayed a handgun, and demanded cash from the register," police said in a statement.

Howell was arrested on Dec. 7, police said. At the time of his arrest, Howell was found to be in possession of a loaded, 9mm Beretta. Howell was transported to the Central Processing Unit and charged with five counts of armed robbery, vehicle theft, rogue and vagabond, and handgun on person.

Police said they are also investigating the involvement of Ta-Von A. Young, 19, of an unconfirmed address, in the Subway robberies.

Young was arrested on theft charges following a shoplifting incident on Dec. 6 at Kohls, located at 9871 Washingtonian Boulevard in Gaithersburg.

Police said they believe two suspects stole a car on Dec. 5 prior to the Subway robbery that afternoon.
