The trial will begin Tuesday for a Gaithersburg man accused of accepting sex from a 15-year-old girl--encounters officials say her mother allegedly set up in order to pay off a $5,000 debt.
Bejarni Rivas, 44, and the mother are accused of trading sex with the woman's daughter—Rivas paying the woman $100 each time—between December 2012 and March 2013, according to news accounts.
The identity of the mother and the 15-year-old are being withheld to protect the identity of the teenager.
Most of the acts occurred in the Georgian Colonies Club House in Silver Spring, The Gazette reports.
The abuse ended after the teen told a relative and then went to police, Fox DC reports.
Rivas was charged with 13 criminal acts, including sexually abusing a minor and rape, according to Circuit Court records accessed online.
The mother, a Gaithersburg resident, was indicted on 11 criminal charges in April, The Gazette reports.
