Two Car Crash Near Gaithersburg Claims One

State police say alcohol was a factor in crash that also injures one person.

A 26-year-old man is dead after driving his car head-on into another vehicle on Interstate 270 Saturday morning near Gaithersburg.

At about 1:50 a.m., the man, of no fixed address, drove southbound in the northbound lane of I-270 near the Shady Grove exit in his Honda Civic, said Trooper Crucillo of the Rockville Barracks. The man crashed head-on into an Isuzu Rodeo, driven by another 26-year-old man, Crucillo said.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of family, police said.

The driver of the Civic was taken to where he was pronounced dead. Crucillo said the driver of the Rodeo was taken to Suburban Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said alcohol was a factor in the crash.
