Weekend Fire Causes $100K in Damages to Gaithersburg Home

MCFRS: No one was injured in the fire.

A Saturday afternoon house fire in the Montgomery Village area of Gaithersburg caused approximately $100,000 worth of damage, a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson told Patch.

MCFRS officials were dispatched to a single-family home in the 10700 block of Wayridge Drive at 4 p.m. Saturday for the report of a fire, MCFRS spokesperson Beth Anne Nesselt said.

Arriving units found smoke showing from the eaves of this single story home and crews found a working fire in the attic area which was quickly extinguished, Nesselt said.

Investigators determined that the fire originated in a bathroom and have listed the fire as accidental in nature, Nesselt said.

Damage is listed at $80,000 to the structure and $20,000 to the contents of the house, Nesselt said. No injuries were reported.
