City Begins Recruitment for Public Art Project

Artists have been invited to submit qualifications to design a public art installation in Gaithersburg.

Calling all professional artists!

The city is asking for artists to submit qualifications for a new public art project, set to be installed at the Residences at Hidden Creek, under construction near Girard Street and Goshen Road in Gaithersburg.

The development will include 300 luxury residential units on 6.5 acres.

The artwork will be located in a slightly terraced, pocket park partially visible from Girard Street, according to a city news release.

A selection committee will choose finalists to design site-specific artwork, based on the quality of the aesthetic expression, expertise and style of each applicant’s body of work.

The project, funded by the developer, has a budget of $25,000 to cover the artist’s commission, engineering, fabrication, transportation, delivery and installation of the artwork. 

Artists should submit their qualifications by June 1 via email to dkayser@gaithersburgmd.gov or by mail to AIPP, 311 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg MD 20878.
