Could Gaithersburg Start Its Own Bus Network?

City Manager Tony Tomasello says its something the city is considering.

Could the city of Gaithersburg start its own bus network? It's already under consideration, according to a report by Greater Greater Washington.

The city applied for a grant in May to study the potential for a bus system, City Manager Tony Tomasello told Patch.

"It's obviously something we're considering ... we've often been frustrated by the fact that Metro almost gets to town but not quite, and this is a way we could get large amounts of our residents to Metro from our population centers," Tomasello said.

The grant was approved for about $45,000 and the city is "pretty stoked" to be looking into it, Tomasello said.

"We're glad to get the grant, we're very appreciative," Tomasello said. "We're doing our due diligence to see where its going."
