Gaithersburg Community Museum Grand Re-Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Gaithersburg Community Museum has undergone renovation, and will celebrate its grand reopening with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Following the ribbon cutting there will be a special performance for young people at the adjacent City Hall Concert Pavilion.  Ray Owen will celebrate history through song with “Hats Off to America” from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. 

Located in the restored 1884 B&O Railroad Station complex near the intersection of Summit and Diamond Avenues in Olde Towne, the Gaithersburg Community Museum features educational exhibits and programs designed to spark interest and imagination about our City’s history.  The Museum complex also comprises rolling stock, the historic Freight House, and the outdoor History Park. 

Current exhibits include a comprehensive timeline of the history of Gaithersburg, “Local Connections to the Lincoln Assassination,” “Scientific Equipment of the Gaithersburg Latitude Observatory,” and interactive displays including a bank, school room and general mercantile store.

The Gaithersburg Community Museum is open Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with additional hours by appointment.  Admission is free.
