Public Discussion of MTA Draft Safety Assessment Report for MARC Gaithersburg Station
The City is hosting a public discussion as a follow up to the Gaithersburg Train Station Safety Assessment Report presented at the September 19, 2011 Mayor and City Council meeting. The discussion will take place as part of the October 3, Mayor and City Council meeting which begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall (31 South Summit Avenue).
The public is encouraged to provide input in person at the October 3rd meeting. Input can also be sent by email to cityhall@gaithersburgmd.gov or mailed to Cindy Hines, City of Gaithersburg, 31 South Summit Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD 20877. All submittals must be received before the close of business on October 7, 2011.
City staff and representatives from MARC and CSX met in February 2011. At that time, MARC staff indicated that they would be conducting a Safety Assessment within the next few months. That assessment was completed on June 23, 2011. City staff held a subsequent meeting with MARC and CSX on August 29, 2011 to review the draft Safety Assessment Report and to discuss the 10 recommendations put forth in that report.

The draft report below was presented to the Mayor and City Council on September 19, 2011, and was meant to serve as a means of assessing the current situation and as a foundation on which to build a dialogue with City officials and the resident and commuter communities.
