Gaithersburg is ‘Most Secure Large Metro Area’ in the United States

Farmers Insurance presented the award during the Gaithersburg City Council meeting Monday.

A national study ranked Bethesda-Gaithersburg-Frederick corridor as number one on the 2013 list of "Most Secure Places to Live."

Farmers Insurance Group representatives presented the award to the Gaithersburg City Council on Monday.

The study was conducted by Farmers Insurance Group and was compiled by Sperling’s Best Places. The local corridor ranked number one in the large metropolitan area category, regions with populations of 500,000 and greater.

The study took into consideration economic stability, crime statistics, extreme weather, risk of natural disasters, housing depreciation, foreclosures, air quality, environmental hazards, life expectancy, motor vehicle fatalities, and employment numbers.
