Gaithersburg Neighborhood Grant Program to Accept Applications

Neighborhoods can apply for matching grants to improve sidewalks, upgrade lighting and other enhancements.

From a news release:

The City of Gaithersburg will begin accepting applications on Thursday, May 15, for funding under the Frederick J. Felton Neighborhood Matching Grant Program.

The program provides an incentive for neighborhood organizations to improve their communities by awarding dollar-for-dollar matching grants of up to $5,000. $60,000 is allocated for this purpose in the proposed Fiscal Year 2015 budget.

Neighborhood groups and associations have used this money for such things as sidewalk enhancement, lighting upgrades, signage, fence replacement, parking lot enhancements, community block parties, and even neighborhood birdhouses.

Application forms are available online under the “City Manager” tab in the “Government” section at www.gaithersburgmd.gov. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, July 15.
