The city of Gaithersburg released the following news over the last week:

Spiegel Elected Vice President of Montgomery County Chapter of Maryland Municipal League

Gaithersburg City Council Vice President Ryan Spiegel has been named Vice President of the Montgomery County Chapter of the Maryland Municipal League (MML). Spiegel has been involved with MML since his election to the Gaithersburg City Council in 2007.

"I am proud to serve an organization that brings together the cities and towns in Montgomery County to advocate for our residents and businesses,” said Council Vice President Ryan Spiegel. “The County’s MML chapter is integral to maintaining and enhancing the quality of life as we work with other community stakeholders to build better local and state government." 

A voluntary, nonprofit, nonpartisan association controlled and maintained by city and town governments, MML works to strengthen and support municipal government through advocacy and the development of effective leadership.

Winter Recreation Guide Now Available

The Winter 2013 Leisure Times, Gaithersburg’s comprehensive guide to recreation programs, services and amenities, is now available at city facilities.

New classes this season include: Zumba Sentao, Bhangra Masala, Tango Fit, Warrior Fitness and MMA Bootcamp, Nia (non-impact aerobics), Latin Pop, Watershed Health in Your Community, and Grooming Your Dog.

Winter class registration for Gaithersburg residents begins Dec. 3.  Non-residents may register beginning Dec. 5.

“The Polar Express” Arrives at the Community Museum

The Gaithersburg Community Museum invites you and your child to enjoy a reading of the holiday classic “The Polar Express” as part of its new program, Destination Gaithersburg – StoryTime Station. The 45-minute readings will take place on Tuesdays, Dec. 11 and 18, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Admission is $3 per child, adults and infants are free. Please note strollers are not permitted inside the Museum.
