Gaithersburg To Move Forward With Kentlands Firehouse Revitalization
The City Council unanimously approved resolutions declaring the property at 321 Firehouse Lane surplus and authorizing the negotiation of redevelopment plans.
The Gaithersburg City Council unanimously approved a resolution Monday evening declaring the Kentlands Firehouse a surplus property, officially kicking off the revitalization process for the property located at 321 Firehouse Lane.
Immediately following the resolution's approval, the Council approved a second resolution authorizing Gaithersburg City Manager Tony Tomasello to negotiate and execute agreements relating to the redevelopment of the property.
The Kentlands Firehouse RFP Committee submitted a list of suggested uses for the property to the mayor and City Council in June. City staff evaluated and scored the proposals which are shown below in the order in which they were ranked:

- Conversion into a single family private residence with one, new two-car garage
- Expansion and renovation to contain three residences plus the construction of one new carriage-house style residence (4 homes)
- Conversion into an arts studio and social hall
No approvals for the development of the firehouse property were made as part of the resolution.
