Voting On Election Day In Gaithersburg

Polls open at 7 a.m. for Tuesday's general election, but it may be better for your work schedule and your blood pressure to hit the election booths a little later. 

Many voting precincts see the big turnout in the morning hours between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., Marjorie Roher, of the Montgomery County Board of Elections, told Patch during the primaries.

“We always encourage people if they can go later in the day to do so, because they might be waiting in a line,” Roher said. Montgomery County used to see an after-work/dinner rush to the polls but in recent elections that time block has seen a quieter turnout, Roher said. “Really we have a morning rush and then a few little peaks throughout the day.”

Polls close Tuesday at 8 p.m.
