WaPo: Montgomery County Delays Zoning Overhaul

Delay heeds objections of developers, neighborhood activists who wanted more time to consider potential impact, The Washington Post reports

The Montgomery County Council had been expected to act on revisions to its land use ordinance in January, but now revisions to the 1,200-page ordinance may not happen until fall, The Washington Post reports.

Councilwoman Nancy Floreen (D-At Large), the chairwoman of the committee examining the new code, told The Post she will ask the council to approve the changes early next year but delay the effective date for at least six months.

The delay heeds the objections of developers and neighborhood activists who said they didn’t have enough time to consider the impact of the changes, The Post reports.
