Report: Gaithersburg Trash Hauler Could Face Audit For Possible Wage Violations

Montgomery County General Services Director David Dise told The Washington Post that there’s enough evidence to justify a full payroll audit of a Gaithersburg-based trash-removal company.

The county took a random sample of payroll records from Potomac Disposal, which has a $2.6 million contract with the county, The Post reports. 

An audit of nine pay periods for 11 workers found 23 instances in which workers’ hourly rates were less than the county’s $13.95 per hour living wage, The Post reports.

The news comes after workers went on strike for three days in September after labor negotiations failed. The protestors were advocating for better health benefits and fair wages, Patch has reported.
