Banking 101

This class explores  financial institutions  (such as banks and credit unions), their products and ways to save money when you are managing your bank accounts.

Participants will learn:
-Why and how to have a checking or savings account,
-Differences between a credit union and a bank
-How to choose where to open an account
-What other services are offered by a bank or credit union, and
-How to manage a checking account.

Bank on Gaithersburg offers a pathway to bank account ownership. A campaign of the City of Gaithersburg, this program has partnered with local banks and credit unions to offer residents free and low-cost options for checking and savings accounts and to help individuals: stay on budget, successfully manage bank accounts, improve credit rating, and pay off debt. Additionally, Bank on Gaithersburg works with financial professionals to deliver free and unbiased financial education.
