Choosing and Using Credit Wisely

The way we manage our credit and debt affects how much we pay for credit (i.e. interest rates), our ability to be qualified for more credit, and even employment opportunities and how much we pay for car insurance.

Participants will learn:
-Different types of loan products
-Places to shop for loans
-Ways to avoid predatory loans, as well as
-How to use credit wisely and manage debt.

Bank on Gaithersburg offers a pathway to bank account ownership. A campaign of the City of Gaithersburg, this program has partnered with local banks and credit unions to offer residents free and low-cost options for checking and savings accounts and to help individuals: stay on budget, successfully manage bank accounts, improve credit rating, and pay off debt. Additionally, Bank on Gaithersburg works with financial professionals to deliver free and unbiased financial education.

One hundred years ago a group of caring community members came together to help those who were most in need. This particular group called themselves the Social Services League, and established their tradition of "Neighbors Helping Neighbors."  

In 1959, the organization's name was changed to Family Services Agency. To meet the needs of the ever-changing Montgomery County population, Family Services has expanded and now houses 14 different programs! Today, Family Services is still committed to making a long-lasting impact on families.Through its innovative early childhood, educational, and behavioral health programs, Family Services makes a difference in the community.
