Target Audience: These sessions are geared for companies who have been in business for 3 or more years and who are ready to take their business to the next level.

Presentation Abstract: As a business owner, you are either creating your own intellectual property or using someone else’s.  This B2B seminar will introduce you to the major types of intellectual property known as copyrights, trademarks and patents.  We will explore:   How do these distinct forms of property come into existence?   What steps should you take to protect these valuable assets?   How can you exploit them to make money?   What governmental agencies affect their use?   What should you do so as not to end up on the wrong side of a lawsuit?

Speaker Bio: Barbara I. Berschler, a partner at Press, Potter & Dozier, LLC, located in Bethesda, Maryland, counsels her clients about general business, commercial law, and intellectual property matters, such as copyright and trademark registration and protection, licensing agreements, software and website development agreements.  Barbara has published numerous articles and spoken before a wide variety of users and creators of intellectual property.  She has written the “Business Owner’s Guide to Intellectual Property,” which may be downloaded from her website at www.berschlerlaw.com.
