Support Group Established for Families of Adults with Hoarding Behaviors

JSSA and the Gaithersburg Hoarding Task Force are co-sponsoring a four session support group for family members of adults with hoarding behaviors. This group offers support in confronting hoarding from the family member’s perspective. It provides an opportunity to learn, share and recharge your batteries with others in similar situations.

During the first hour of each session there will be expert guest speakers on hand to discuss relevant topics of value to family members. The second hour will be dedicated to professionally facilitated, open, honest and confidential discussion. The four sessions will be co-facilitated by licensed social workers.

Session Two: March 15, 2011 5:30 -7:30 p.m.
Maureen Herndon, Program Manager, Gaithersburg Department of Community & Public Relations and Susan Smith, Disability Coordinator, Housing Opportunities Commission will discuss service coordination and the family dynamics of hoarding behavior.
