Gaithersburg Students Earn Technology Awards

Two Gaithersburg High School students earned awards from the Automotive Technology Foundation of the Montgomery County Public School system.

Helena Benitez and William Stevens were recognized by the Automotive Technology Foundation of the Montgomery County Public School system in a ceremony honoring outstanding students in the Automotive and Information Technology Systems program on Friday, May 4.

Benitez earned an outstanding award in auto technology, and Stevens was recognized for his work in auto body/collision.

"Students who participate in the Foundations programs take classes that offer specialized training in any of three career programs for high school credit," a press release states.

In addition to the automotive and technology programs, the Montgomery County Students Foundations Office administers the Construction Trades program.

"The Foundations Office’s goal is to promote the relationship between the business/professional community and MCPS. This relationship promotes the advancement of career education and prepares students for a full range of careers within each industry," according to the release.
