Gaithersburg High School junior running back Solomon Vault has received a scholarship offer from the University of Minnesota, his first offer from a Big Ten school, his third from a Division I (FBS) football program and his sixth scholarship offer overall, according to The Washington Post.
Vault was an honorable mention All-Met selection at Gaithersburg.
The offer from the Big Ten school marks Vault's second from a BCS conference. The running back had previously picked up an offer from current Big East and future Atlantic Coast Conference member Pittsburgh.
Vault led Gaithersburg with 1,251 yards rushing and 22 touchdowns in 2012, according to the report. He has picked up additional offers from Marshall, Old Dominion and Western Michigan, according to Rivals.com.
Other Division I schools showing interest in Vault, according to Rivals.com, include Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, Northwestern, Penn State, Stanford and West Virginia.
Trojans Coach Kreg Kephart told The Washington Post Vault will use his upcoming spring break to make unofficial visits to Marshall, Pittsburgh and possibly Wake Forest.
