Germantown Football Player Signs Letter of Intent With Shepherd

Carson Ingle, from Good Council, will play for the Rams.

Good Counsel senior Carson Ingle has signed a letter-of-intent to play college football at Shepherd, a Division II school located in West Virginia.

Ingle registered a team-high 41.5 tackles including 35 solo stops last season. He also recorded 14.5 tackles-for-loss and had six sacks and returned two interceptions for touchdowns, a performance that helped him earn first team All-WCAC honors.

Ingle, who made official visits to Gannon and West Liberty, also considered Pace before opting to sign with Shepherd.

He said Shepherd’s proximity to his Germantown home was a major factor in his decision to sign with the Rams. The success of the Shepherd football program also factored into Ingle’s decision.

“I had a couple schools looking at me that were rebuilding,” he said. “They’re a pretty successful program.”

Shepherd finished the 2010 campaign with a 12-2 overall record including a 7-1 mark in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic  Conference.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder will compete at strong side outside linebacker and will reunite with former Good Counsel teammate and Shepherd fullback Mike Nittoli.

“It’s going to be nice going against him in practice again,” said Ingle, who once attended Germantown Elementary School.

The Good Counsel senior is among a talented group of student-athletes in Shepherd’s 2010 recruiting class.

“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “It’s a new experience. I’m going to miss playing in high school at Good Counsel [but] it should be a fun experience.”
