Quince Orchard linebacker Marcus Newby has chosen Nebraska over a bevy of offers, including Penn State, to play college football, the Washington Post reported Monday morning.
His bio on Twitter now reads "#HUSKERNATION" under his @MarcusNewby3 handle. He tweeted his announcement at 7:23 a.m.
from Oklahoma, Nebraska, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Maryland to name a few — making him one of the most highly sought after recruits in QO history. According to Rivals.com, defending national champion Alabama and Ohio State had also shown interest.
Scout.com interviewed QO's head coach, Dave Mencarini, who said, “Marcus instantly makes all of the other players around him better. That is what all great players do."
Newby will join the ranks of fellow QO alum, with current Husker defensive end Jason Ankrah and defensive coordinator John Papuchis playing a part in his decision, Big Red Today reports.
