With the second pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins selected Robert Griffin III, Baylor University's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback.

The different route won out. In Thursday night's first round of the NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins selected Baylor University's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, Robert Griffin III, with the second overall pick.

Washington traded its first round pick in this year's draft (No. 6), along with it's 2012 second round pick, 2013 first round pick and 2014 first round pick to the St. Louis Rams for the right to select RGIII behind Stanford's Andrew Luck, who was picked No. 1 by Indianapolis.

In March, 60 percent of voters said they hoped the Redskins made a move for Griffin compared to only 18 percent who preferred signing Manning.
