Sports Report: Top-Seeded Gaithersburg Baseball Eliminated and More

No. 1 Gaithersburg was eliminated in the regional quarterfinal by No. 9 Wootton. Quince Orchard's boys and girls lacrosse teams fall short in regional semis.

With a No. 1 seed comes lofty expectations, and unfortunately for the Gaithersburg High School varsity baseball team they were unable to be met.

After a first-round bye to the 4A West region quarterfinals, the top-seeded Trojans were eliminated by No. 9 Wootton, 7-3.

Gaithersburg squandered a potentially easier opportunity to advance through the regional bracket. Wootton will host No. 12 Northwest in the 4A West semifinals opposite No. 2 Bethesda Chevy Chase and No. 11 Churchill.
