Gaithersburg Track Star Goes Division I

Former Gaithersburg High School track star Kaifa Boyce will continue his career at St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Md., according to a report by The Gazette.

Boyce was a state champion in the triple jump his senior year and chose the Mounties over the University of Maryland, St. Francis and High Point, according to the report.

“The Mount seemed pretty nice,” Boyce told The Gazette. “I know the jumpers coming in with me so that helped. [The Mount] gave me a decent offer so it seemed like a pretty good option and it’s not too far from home.”

Former Trojan Takes Maryland Public Links Title

Steven Delmar, a Gaithersburg High School graduate who walked on to his collegiate golf team at Coastal Carolina in 2008, won the Maryland Public Links Championship at Greystone Golf Course in White Hall, Md., according to a report by The Gazette.

Delmar shot 3-under-par over two rounds to take the tournament title, his first career win, according to the report.

“I played OK,” Delmar told The Gazette. “I had a couple bad holes, I hit one out of bounds on a par five but all in all I hit it pretty well.”
