PHOTOS: Kentlands Swim Team Raises Money for Cancer
Kentlands swim team raises money in honor of teammate who beat cancer.
The Kentlands Kingfish swim team took to the pool last week for the 3rd Annual Swim-A-Thon benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
The event was in honor in of fellow Kingfish, 10-year-old Faith Froehlich, who now enjoys a healthy, strong lifestyle after finishing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia more than six years ago, event coordinator Farrah German told Patch.
The team raised more than $2,300 in 2011 and hoped to climb past $4,000 in 2012, but final fundraising numbers aren't yet available, German said.

German told Patch Froehlich's family is very active in fundraising for blood cancer research and also supports LLS through the "Light The Night" campaign. The family's walk team, "Leap of Faith," was the top fundraiser at the Montgomery County walk in 2011 and has raised more than $200,000 over the past seven years.

- Head Coach Rob Washburn swam 100 laps.
- Faith Froehlich (Honored Teammate and Leukemia Survivor) swam 82 laps and raised $300.
- Olivia French swam 200 laps.
