City Elections, Rockville Chef Competes on ‘Chopped’: Week in Preview

Vote | Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5
Rockville and Gaithersburg will host elections Tuesday. Gaithersburg’s mayor and two council members are running uncontested. In Rockville, two people are running for mayor and six are running for four council seats. Follow coverage of Rockville’s elections at Rockville.Patch.com

Reality check | Will Chef Eng get chopped on ‘Chopped’?
On Tuesday, Rockville’s own chef Jeff Eng will compete on the Food Network reality show “Chopped”—his second time appearing on the show. Eng is the executive chef at Tower Oaks Lodge. Eng is hosting a viewing party at Tower Lodge, 2 Preserve Parkway. The party starts at 9 p.m.; show time is 10 p.m. 

On the agenda | Should the bag tax get bagged?
A Montgomery County Council committee on Monday is expected to discuss whether the county’s 10-cent tax on plastic bags scaled back so that it only applies to bags at food stores. The committee meets 9:30 a.m. at the County Council building 100 Maryland Ave. The meetings are also broadcast on TV and online
