MedImmune turns 25
Headquartered in Gaithersburg, MedImmune is celebrating its 25th anniversary this week, a company spokeswoman tells Patch. The biotech firm—the makers of the FluMist vaccine—employs 2,000 people at its Gaithersburg site.

to announce bid for governor Tuesday in Rockville
Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler is expected to be in Rockville Tuesday to kick of his campaign for Maryland governor and is expected to announce his candidacy in the Democratic primary. He’s planned a tour stop at Montgomery County Courthouse Square, 12:30 p.m.
The announced Democratic candidates are Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown and state Del. Heather Mizeur, of Montgomery County. Republican candidates include Harford County Executive David R. Craig, state Del. Ron George of Anne Arundel County and Charles Lollar, a Charles County business executive.
Montgomery College receives $250,000 federal grant from U.S. Citizenship
and Immigration Services
The grant will help support citizenship preparation services for permanent residents, Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen’s office announced. The college anticipates that 600 permanent residents will receive citizenship instruction and 300 permanent residents will receive naturalization application services.
