Johnny Knoxville and his Jackass crew are back, this time with hidden-camera pranks that involve a "Grandpa" and his 8-year-old "grandson."
"Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa" is being reviewed by the critics as you might expect: Junk food that's not too bad for you, if you like this kind of stuff.
The New York Times review of "Bad Grandpa" says: "It’s hard to score big laughs with hidden-camera material these days because there has been so much of it since the “Jackass” TV show, but Mr. Knoxville and his young sidekick still land a few jaw-droppers. Certainly the contestants at a kiddie beauty pageant they visit near the film’s end will need therapy for years."
The Los Angeles Times reviewed "Bad Grandpa" this way: Now I don't mean to suggest that "Bad Grandpa" has gone highbrow — the "Jackass" brow is just as arched as ever. And to be clear, the plot is slight. The dialogue goes from not bad to not too bad.Still, it's amazing what a little story and a little substance add to a movie. It might not be a giant leap for mankind, but it is a small step for one old man.
And USA Today says of "Bad Grandpa": Part feature, part stand-up road act, Grandpa tamps down the raunch of the MTV series to find something unexpected: a little story, a lot of heart and a treasure of an 8-year-old actor.
