Berthiaume Won't Run Again for School Board

The District 2 representative will leave after first term.

Board of Education member Laura Berthiaume will not seek re-election in 2012, the Parents' Coalition of Montgomery County reported. Berthiaume of Rockville, told the Gazette she wants to spend more time with her three children, which had been difficult to do along with her duties on the board. She represents District 2, which includes the Rockville, Richard Montgomery, Wootton, Winston Churchill and Northwest clusters. Berthiaume said Montgomery County Public Schools' recently approved school redistricting, which would reduce the size of District 2, did not factor into her decision.  You can read more in the Gazette.

The entire county owes her a huge debt of gratitude, especially for the BOE's recent support of the modernization of Wheaton High School and Thomas Edison High School of Technology, the county's only …   more ›
