Two Arrested on Burglary, Drug Charges in Gaithersburg

Two men arrested after breaking into a vacant home in the 100 block of Duvall Lane.

Two men were arrested on burglary and drug charges Wednesday after allegedly breaking into a vacant home in the 100 block of Duvall Lane in Gaithersburg, according to police. Kenny Lee Austin, 53, and Eddie Nathaniel Green, 32, neither with a fixed address, were charged with 4th degree burglary, trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia, Gaithersburg Police Department spokesperson Dan Lane said. The burglary happened at 1:47 a.m. Wednesday, according to police.

August Sting Yields Drug Bust of Six in Gaithersburg

Two drug-related search and seizure warrants throughout the city led to six arrests and the seizure of marijuana, ecstasy and paraphernalia.

Six people have been charged in a drug bust in which police seized marijuana, ecstasy, drug paraphernalia and cash, Gaithersburg police announced Tuesday. Detectives received complaints from citizens and tips from officers in early August about drug activity in the Muddy Branch Road and South Frederick Avenue areas, police said. Gaithersburg police's investigation led to search warrants issued and executed on Aug. 16 in the 100 block of Garth Terrace and Aug. 23 in the 400 block of Muddy Branch Road. The Aug. 16 warrant resulted in the seizure of distribution amounts of marijuana and MDMA (Ecstasy), along with several paraphernalia items and approximately $1,300, police said. Montgomery County should stop prosecuting drug dealers. Drug abuse should be treated as the medical and spiritual problem that it is - not as a criminal matter. The headline of this story says that these arrests resulted from a "sting" operation. We do not need to have County employees acting as spies on the citizenry.
