Frederick News-Post: A front seat passenger from North Potomac was not injured.
A Gaithersburg man was killed early Sunday morning in a single-car crash in Frederick County, The Gazette reported. Daniel Swader was driving southbound in the 8800 block of Gambrill Park Road when his 1993 Honda Accord went off the roadway and collided with a tree, according to the report. A front-seat passenger, Trevor Robison of North Potomac, was uninjured in the crash, according to The Frederick News-Post. Swader's father told The Frederick News Post his son was attending Montgomery College and was “just trying to find his way in life.” “He was just a good young man,” Jamell Swader told The Frederick News-Post. “A very happy young man. Standford Wilson Jr., 61, died from his injuries, Montgomery County police said.
(UPDATED) A Gaithersburg man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Derwood on Friday. According to police, Standford Wilson Jr., 61, of the 20000 block of Mattingly Terrace, died at a local hospital from injuries he suffered when his BMW X5 veered off Shady Grove Road and struck several trees and a fence. The crash occurred at around 12:20 p.m., just west of Muncaster Mill Road. Police have not determined what caused Wilson’s vehicle to leave the roadway. The fatal crash shut down the westbound lane of Shady Grove Road, between Mill Run and Muncaster Mill. Police have asked that anyone with information about this crash call 240-773-6620. Luis Kenyo Chambergo-Chanco, 21, of the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle in Montgomery Village, died at the hospital following a Snouffer School Road car crash.
A 21-year-old Montgomery Village man was killed early Sunday when his Honda Civic collided with another car on Snouffer School Road in Gaithersburg, according to Montgomery County Police. Police say Luis Kenyo Chambergo-Chanco, 21, of the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle in Montgomery Village, was driving south on Snouffer School Road shortly after midnight. Police say his 2001 Honda Civic traveled into the northbound lanes just north of Centerway Road, and the car struck a 2009 Nissan Rogue that was traveling north. Chambergo-Chanco was transported to the hospital, where he died, police said. Update, 12:25 p.m., Nov. 14: A tractor trailer that overturned on top of a pickup truck, killing a Gaithersburg man and a Derwood man in Frederick County on Monday, had faulty brakes and was not registered to operate in Maryland, the Frederick News-Post reported Wednesday. It is not clear if the brakes played a role in the crash, state police told the News-Post. Jose C. Geneva Kelley was driving a Kia Sophia that rear-ended another car before being struck from behind, police said.
An 84-year-old Rockville woman has died from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle crash on Oct. 12 in Laytonsville, Montgomery County police said in a news release on Friday. Geneva Kelley, of the 500 block of Woodston Road in Rockville, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening, the release said. Kelley died at the hospital on Oct. 20, police said. Kelley was driving a 2000 Kia Sophia that police said rear-ended a 2005 Acura RL that was stopped in traffic eastbound on Laytonsville Road at Brink Road. Detectives ask for help from witnesses of Sunday crash.
A three-car collision near the Montgomery County Airpark Sunday morning left one passenger dead and the drivers of two of the cars with serious injuries. Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit have so far determined that a silver 2000 Mazda 626 was headed northbound on Airpark Road a half mile north of Muncaster Mill Road just before 10:30 a.m Sunday when it veered into the southbound lanes and struck two cars. The front passenger of the Mazda, a 53-year-old male, died on the scene. A 24-year-old Germantown man was killed Monday after a collision at the intersection of Great Seneca Highway and Longdraft Road.
Update (9:35 p.m.): A 24-year-old Germantown man was killed Monday after his motorcycle collided with the side door of a vehicle trying to make a left turn on to Great Seneca Highway from Longdraft Road, Montgomery County police said. The victim, Michael George Balcom, of the 13200 block of Wonderland Way, was traveling on northbound Great Seneca Highway on his 2001 Suzuki SV650s motorcycle when a 1998 BMW 528i attempted to turn on to the road in front of Balcom, police said. The motorcycle collided with the passenger side door of the BMW, and Balcom was thrown from the motorcycle.
