Gaithersburg Police Chief Mark P. Sroka has honored a group of officers who responded to a June 24 brawl involving nearly 100 people at New Red Rock Cafe in Gaithersburg's Festival Shopping Center along Muddy Branch Road. At the Aug. 10 Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce (GGCC) breakfast at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, Sroka presented Distinguished Service Citations to 16 officers, Gaithersburg Police Department spokesperson officer Dan Lane said. Women in early 20s charged in brawl over last pants in their size.
Two women fighting over over the last pair of pants in their size were arrested and charged with assaulting each other Saturday afternoon at Lakeforest Mall's Body Central Store, Montgomery County police said. Officers were called to the mall and found the two women punching each other and wrestling on the floor, police said. Officers were able to separate the two and place them in custody. The suspects were identified by police as Andrea N. Williams, 22, of the 300 block of Amberfield Lane in Gaithersburg, and Ethelyn R. Gladney, 21, of the 20100 block of Loading Rock Place in Montgomery Village. Montgomery County police officers responded to a fight at Lakeforest Mall early Saturday afternoon.
Montgomery County police responded to a fight at Lakeforest Mall early Saturday afternoon, MCPD spokesperson Gloria Jackson reported. Two people were fighting and surrounded by a lot of bystanders, Jackson said describing the scene, but the situtation is under control. Police officers are on scene dispersing the crowd, Jackson said, and an ambulance responded to "check up" on potential injuries. Gaithersburg Police Department spokesperson officer Dan Lane said the fight involved three people and two females were arrested. The type of charges could not be confirmed at this time. Additional officers were requested as standard procedure due to the large crowd and multiple suspects, Lane said.

Montgomery County police are investigating a shooting and multiple stabbing in a fight that quickly escalated outside a Gaithersburg cafe early Sunday. Police said nearly 100 people were involved in the altercation that broke out inside, and migrated outside, the New Red Rock Café at 385 Muddy Branch Road in the Festival Shopping Center around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. New Red Rock Cafe was hosting a Rapper Karaoke Night, which attracted a large, young adult audience from around the region, police said.
