Police: Officers responding to the incident could not immediately locate a victim.
Montgomery County police are investigating a possible shooting Monday afternoon in the area of Montgomery Village's Stedwick Elementary School. Officers responded to a call for a shooting at 4:45 p.m. in the school's vicinity, spokesperson Lucille Baur said. Officers could not locate a victim near the school but contacted local hospitals and treatment centers and found a young adult male who arrived privately to seek treatment for a gunshot wound. The individual is being treated for a serious injury, but it does not appear to be a life-threatening injury, police said in a news release. Police said the Damascus resident ran one man down with his car, targeted another.
A Damascus man has pleaded guilty to second-degree depraved heart murder in connection to the December hit-and-run death of a Potomac man in Gaithersburg, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's office said. "Depraved heart murder is the reckless action and wonton disregard for human life that a defendant takes or has towards another," according to a release from the State's Attorney's office. Fernando Josue Valenzuela, 20, of the unit block of Valley Park Court in Damascus, faces up to 20 years in prison. Under the plea agreement, he will not be tried on the original charges of one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. A 63-year-old Washington, DC, man has been arrested for multiple residential burglaries in the Gaithersburg area, Gaithersburg police announced Wednesday. Larry Francis Jackson, of Pennsylvania Avenue, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor theft and one count of felony theft. Jackson was identified as a suspect in a Feb. 7 residential burglary in the unit block of Virginia Drive and a Feb. 14 residential burglary in the unit block of Brighton Drive, both in Gaithersburg, police said. Detectives are continuing to investigate other residential burglaries that occurred within the city of Gaithersburg that possibly involve Jackson, police said. Jackson has been released on a $15,000 bond.

Police: The suspect was located within the wooded area behind Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse and placed under arrest.
A 26-year-old man was was charged with two counts of second degree burglary and theft less than $1,000 in connection to two burglaries of a Gaithersburg veterinary hospital, police say. Joshua Richards, of no fixed address, twice broke into Negola's Ark Veterinary Hospital, located at 9401 Fields Road, according to Gaithersburg police. After the second incident, which occurred on April 30 at 2:17 a.m., Richards was observed fleeing on foot to the rear of the building, police said. He was later located within the wooded area behind Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse and placed under arrest. The Gazette: Prosecutors say a 44-year-old Gaithersburg man paid $100 for sex with the girl.
A Montgomery County grand jury has indicted a Gaithersburg woman on charges that she prostituted her daughter in order to pay a debt, The Gazette reported. Bejarni Rivas, 44, of Gaithersburg, paid the mother $100 each time to have sex with the victim, according to charging documents cited in the report. The alleged incidents occurred in the men's changing room at the Georgian Colonies Club House in Silver Spring between December and March, the report said. Rivas is charged with 13 counts of rape, sexual abuse, and other charges, The Gazette reported. The mother is charged with 11 similar counts, and was being held in jail on $275,000 bond. Gaithersburg police still hope to identify a suspect in the April 22 attempted kidnapping in the Washingtonian Woods neighborhood.
Police have received a number of tips regarding a possible suspect in an attempted Gaithersburg kidnapping, a Gaithersburg police spokesman said. Gaithersburg police released a composite sketch of a man who attempted to kidnap a 14-year-old boy while the boy was running on Midsummer Drive in the Washingtonian Woods neighborhood the evening of April 22. Police are no closer to identifying the suspect, but they are pleased with the amount of tips that are coming in because it means people are paying attention, Gaithersburg police Officer Dan Lane said.
