On The Agenda: Committee Briefings

The Gaithersburg mayor and City Council will hear annual briefings from four city committees at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Annual committee briefings continue Monday evening, with the Gaithersburg mayor and City Council set to hear from four additional groups. The Gaithersburg Senior Advisory Committee, Multicultural Affairs Committee, Police Advisory Committee and the Olde Towne Advisory Subcommittee will all provide a year-end update starting at 7:30 p.m. Prepared powerpoint presentations from each committee can be viewed on the city of Gaithersburg website: Previously, the The Environmental Affairs, Transportation and Educational Enrichment committees made their annual presentations on Nov. 13. Longtime Gaithersburg employee Tony Tomasello was sworn in Monday by Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney A. Katz to his new role as city manager. Tomasello said he received support from city community managers, partners and employees through the entire interview process, something he called a humbling experience. Gaithersburg's more than five-month search for a City Manager is over. The Gaithersburg mayor and City Council announced Thursday morning the appointment of Deputy City Manager Tony Tomasello as City Manager, according to a news release. Tomasello has served as Acting City Manager since the June 15 resignation of former City Manager Angel Jones. Tomasello Among Three Finalists For City Manager Position

Other finalists for the Gaithersburg position include Annapolis City Manager Mike Mallinoff and Todd Parton, City Manager of Kerrville, TX.

Gaithersburg's Acting City Manager Tony Tomasello was named one of three finalists for the vacant city manager position, the city announced Friday afternoon. Tomasello has served in his current role since the June 15 resignation of former City Manager Angel Jones and was hired by the city in 1996 as its economic development director and has served as deputy city manager since 2001. The city also named Mike Mallinoff, of Glen Arm, MD, and Todd Parton, of Kerrville, TX, among the finalists. Gaithersburg To Introduce Finalists For City Manager Position

Gaithersburg's search for a new city manager is nearing a close. The city will announce finalists for the position this Friday, then introduce them to city staff on Nov. 16, and invite the public for a "Meet and Greet" Saturday, Nov. 17, before making a final decision, according to a news release. Tony Tomasello has served as acting city manager since the June 15 resignation of former City Manager Angel Jones.   The Gaithersburg City Council will submit a resolution to purchase property in the Olde Towne Business District in an effort to facilitate redevelopment during Monday night's 7:30 meeting at City Hall.
