Feds Sentence Germantown ICE Impersonator to 8 Years For Fraud Scheme

The U.S. district court sentenced Robert Fred Mejia to eight years in federal prison.

U.S. District Court Judge Deborah Chasanow sentenced Robert Mejia, of Germantown, to eight years in federal prison Monday, followed by three years of supervised release for impersonating a federal Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Officer, according to a press release from the U.S Department of Homeland Security. Other charges included transporting money obtained by fraud across state lines, transporting money obtained by fraud, being a felon in possession of ammunition and participating in a fraudulent scheme to provide immigration services. U.S. Prosecutors say Mejia, 29, will serve his sentence starting on April 28, 2014. The state of Maryland sentenced him to 11 years and five months in county jail. In addition to serving jail time…
