Delaney, Bartlett to Debate 6th District Locally

The two candidates for Maryland's 6th Congressional District will meet for six debates, including one at Rockville's Temple Beth Ami on Oct. 21.

New members of the re-aligned 6th Congressional District will have an opportunity to get a close look at incumbant Rep. Roscoe Bartlett and Democratic challenger John Delaney. The two candidates agreed to a series of six debates, including one on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Rockville's Temple Beth Ami, The Washington Post reported. The debate will be hosted by the Jewish Community Relations Council, according to the report. City Hopes to Fill Vacancies on Eight Committees

The Gaithersburg mayor and City Council are seeking members to serve on a number of city committees.

Eight city committees are in need of new members, according to the city of Gaithersburg website. "Joining a city committee is a way to get involved and help the mayor and City Council in their strategic planning process," the vacancy posting reads. "All committees act in an advisory role. City staff help facilitate meetings and report recommendations to the mayor and City Council. Preference will be given to Gaithersburg residents and those who have businesses within the city." On The Agenda: Izaak Walton League Rezoning and More

The Gaithersburg mayor and City Council will meet Monday night at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall.

The Gaithersburg mayor and City Council will decide the fate of a 33.54 acre section of the Izaak Walton League of America property at Monday evening's mayor and City Council meeting. The IWL hopes the section, currently zoned as Low Density Residential, will be rezoned as a Mixed Use Development Zone to permit a proposed mix of uses, including the two existing residential units and out buildings, philanthropic and office uses in the existing 3-story building, and a telecommunications facility, according to city documents. The property is located at 700, 704 and 707 Conservation Lane, off Muddy Branch Road, home of the IWL's national headquarters. The mayor and Council can also approve a Schematic Development Plan for the same property. …
