(Update, 10:45 p.m.) Maryland 5th District Rep. and Democratic WHIP Steny Hoyer introduced the state's new 6th District Rep. John Delaney at approximately 10:20 p.m. Delaney thanked Maryland's 6th District constituents and said his campaign was about standing together and working for the common good of the country. "I promise to work as hard as I can to make differences in your lives, pursue opportunities, and help overcome challenges," Delaney said in his acceptance speech to supporters at the Bolger Conference Center in Potomac. Roscoe Bartlett and Democrat John Delaney are storming the 6th Congressional District to persuade the remaining undecided voters to give them the edge on Tuesday. The 6th District is the competitive exception to Maryland’s other congressional races, whose incumbents are all expected to win re-election. Roscoe Bartlett and Democrat John Delaney on Sunday night cast themselves as political independents in the race for Maryland's 6th Congressional District during a debate that still featured the kind of partisan bickering dominating national politics. Sunday night’s event, hosted by the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington, marked the third time the major-party candidates in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District have debated each other. The two candidates agreed to a series of six debates, including one on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Rockville's Temple Beth Ami, The Washington Post reported.
