Gazette: The company that administers Advanced Placement exams decided Monday that the improper video will not invalidate the exam for 274 students.
Quince Orchard High School faculty, parents and 274 Advanced Placement psychology students can breathe a sigh of relief. After an improper cellphone video taken at the testing center for Quince Orchard's exam was posted on Twitter, the school awaited word from Educational Testing Service—the company that handles test administration and security—as to whether the exam would count. The Gazette: An improper cellphone video posted to Twitter could invalidate the Advanced Placement test.
An improper cellphone video taken at the testing center for Quince Orchard High School's advanced placement psychology exam and posted on Twitter could invalidate the exam for all 274 students, The Gazette reported. Quince Orchard Principal Carole Working told The Gazette the video did not show the exam itself, but did show students walking down an aisle to take the test and something in bubble wrap that may have been the test. It is against exam day policies to use electronic devices, including cellphones, smartphones and tablets, according to the report. Boy's and girl's lacrosse and softball teams from Gaithersburg area schools struggled in the first round of the state tournament.
State title dreams ended for a number of Gaithersburg area teams in the first round of their respective state tournaments. The boy's lacrosse, girl's lacrosse and softball teams from Gaithersburg, Quince Orchard and Watkins Mill high schools posted a combined 2-3 record in round one. Boy's Lacrosse No. 6 Gaithersburg High School was upset by No. 11 Thomas Johnson, 13-4. WaPo: Adam McLean, a sophomore transfer defensive lineman, has received scholarship offers from three prominent Division I football programs.
Adam McLean has gone from one Gaithersburg school to another, and he's taking a strong football pedigree with him. The former Avalon School defensive lineman will play for Quince Orchard in the fall, and he's already received a number of scholarship offers, The Washington Post reported. Florida State, Nebraska and Virginia Tech have all made offers to the 6-foot-2, 260-pound standout, according to the report. The Gaithersburg school was one of 17 Montgomery County schools to make the list.
Quince Orchard High School was named one of the best high schools in the country, according to Newsweek/The Daily Beast, Montgomery County Public Schools announced Monday. The Gaithersburg high school—ranked 1,350th—was one of 17 Montgomery County high schools to make the list. @ Joe T.I am a 13 year veteran of the classroom. I am a male, 6'3" 225 lbs. I have had a finger broken trying to restrain a student who refused to comply with a demand that he not get involved in a fight involving two other students. Having a way to document what transpires with a student is a powerful way to dissuade some students from making foolish choices.   more ›
