If the Gold course is going to be developed, I would love to see a portion of the grounds dedicated to Sr. Living. Many people, like my family, have lived in Gaithersburg/MoVlg for 40+ years and would like to remain residents. However, other than Asbury, there is no other area dedicated to Sr. Living. I believe it this was offered, it would be a big hit! Some type of village within the village …   more ›

Homebuilders Are Abandoning 'Master Bedroom.' Do You Know Why?

Not the actual room, but the term, Washington Business Journal reported.

The term used to describe the largest bedroom in a house may be slowing falling out of popularity in the Washington region. "Master bedroom," Washington Business Journal reports, conjures up images of slavery. Not to mention that "master" implies the occupant is male.  "Owner's suite" or "owner's bedroom" are the preferred terms for many homebuilders in Washington, the newspaper reports.  “The terminology has more of an upscale tone to it, particularly in some of the really large homes that truly have a large bedroom, sitting area, enormous walk-in closets, and lavish bathrooms,” Brian Block, managing broker for McLean’s RE/Max Allegiance, told WBJ. “Owner Suite conveys a sense of being distinguished, having ‘made it’ or ‘arrived’ rather…

I think it's silly. Owner and master can be interchanged in referencing a bedroom or slavery, so, why make a big deal about it? If it's too offensive, just call it " the really, really, big room."   more ›

Vacancy Vision: North Frederick Avenue

A vacant lot sits between Duron Paints and the Hair Bar on Route 355.

A small white barn and a meager gravel path are the only landmarks on an otherwise vacant green field between the Duron Paint & Wallcoverings and the Hair Bar on the east side of North Frederick Avenue. A large yellow "Sale or Land Lease" sign sits on the edge of the property, inviting potential investors to fill the empty space. What type of business would you like to see in that spot? A retail store? Restaurant? Laundromat? Seasonal store (think Halloween, Easter, Christmas)? When asked for details about the space, Turning Point Management told Patch that Herb Patterson was no longer with the company, but had taken representation of the property with him. Turning Point did not have a forwarding number for Mr. Patterson.

84 Townhomes In Crown Development To Hit Market Saturday

Pulte: Homes in the Crown West neighborhood go on sale Saturday.

Eighty-four townhomes in the Crown West neighborhood — part of Gaithersburg's highly-anticipated Crown development — go on sale Saturday, Pulte Homes spokesperson Valerie Dolenga said. Pricing for the homes will be posted officially on Saturday, but Dolenga speculated they would be in the low $500,000 range.
