Update, 5:55 p.m., Nov. 12: A 19-year-old Montgomery College student was taken into custody by Rockville city police on Monday afternoon after fellow students said the man told them he—in his words—“felt like shooting people just for fun,” a college spokeswoman said. The students reported the incident to the Rockville campus security office about 2 p.m., said Elizabeth Homan, a Montgomery College spokeswoman. The man “indicated he was upset over a relationship,” Homan said. Rockville city police Lt. Gaithersburg police to have an "increased presence" chief says.
There will be police at county movie theaters following a mass shooting during a showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" at a theater in Colorado early Friday. County police will patrol theaters showing the new Batman film, as well as nearby parking lots on Friday, Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger told NBC4. Rockville police arrested a man from Gaithersburg and a man from Germantown.
Two men are charged in connection with an attempted daytime burglary of a home in the 1500 block of West Kersey Lane on Tuesday. Joshua R. Evans, 18, of Gaithersburg, and Alexander Patrick Jeffrey, 24, of Germantown, are charged with attempted first-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary, according to a city news release. Evans also is charged with malicious destruction of property, the release said. Evans is being held in the county jail in Rockville on $25,000 bond, according to online court records. Jeffrey was released Wednesday on $5,000 bond. Both men are scheduled to appear in Montgomery County District Court in Rockville at 8:30 a.m. on June 18.
