PHOTOS: MLK Essay Contest Winners Share Entries With City Council

Winners from Gaithersburg include Goshen Elementary's Betel Tenna, Strawberry Knoll Elementary's Coronado Bolanos and Grace Harvey, along with a winner from the Montgomery County contest.

Three Gaithersburg area elementary school students separated themselves from more than 200 entrants in the 2013 Martin Luther King Jr. Literary Arts Contest. The winners — Goshen Elementary School's Betel Tenna and Strawberry Knoll Elementary School's Coronado Bolanos and Grace Harvey — shared their winning essays Tuesday night with the Gaithersburg mayor and City Council. The students addressed the theme, “His Dream, iAct, We Change!” and the essays were judged and scored by members of the city’s Multicultural Affairs Committee and the Educational Enrichment Committee. Also sharing an essay was Gaithersburg Elementary School's Maya Walker, who also serves as the city's Junior Mayor. Walker was selected by Montgomery County as one of the …

The city of Gaithersburg released the following news this week: All Aboard StoryTime Station at the Community Museum The city of Gaithersburg invites you and your child to enjoy monthly book readings during “StoryTime Station,” an enriching new program at the Gaithersburg Community Museum. The 45-minute readings, recommended for children ages 3 to 6, will take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.  Admission is $3 per child, adults and infants are free.  Visit the city of Gaithersburg website for more information.
