Loaded apple-chicken bratwurst will be a big winner on Sunday.
Hello everyone and welcome to the Super Bowl XLV version of Andre Taylor’s Tasty Tidbits! The big game has arrived and like in previous years, my Philadelphia Eagles won’t be playing for an NFL championship. Being the Philadelphian I am, I can’t jump on the bandwagon for any team, especially the cross-state rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Even though the Green Bay Packers put my Eagles out of the playoffs in the first round, I still pick them to win it all this year. To show my support for the NFC Champions, I’m firing up my stovetop skillet and whipping up some apple-chicken bratwurst and loading up the bun with some fried onions, smoked apple wood bacon, some shredded cheddar cheese, mustard and ketchup. When the Steelers get to the Super Bowl, Brusters Ice Cream treats the fans.
Can you make it a Super Bowl Sundae? Brusters black and gold ice cream, on sale from now until the big game this weekend, gives Pittsburg Steelers fans a little something extra to be excited about. Fans who come wearing black and gold clothing or a Steelers logo will get an extra scoop for free. Bob Fischer, who owns the Gaithersburg Brusters on Rt. 355, has a special connection to the Steelers. "My father and I went to the Super Bowl two years ago," when the Steelers played the Arizona Cardinals, he said. Shortly after, Fischer's father passed away at the age of 93.
