Burglars stole $100,000 worth of goods from 30 homes, according to Montgomery County Police.
Two Rockville teens and a 21-year-old Rockville man were among six people charged in a North Potomac burglary spree that netted more than $100,000 worth of items, Montgomery County Police said Thursday. According to District Court records accessed online, Tita Ntemgwa Fontava, 21, of the 14000 block of Pellita Terrace, has been charged with 56 counts of burglary, theft, property destruction and related conspiracy charges. Fontava is being held on $20,000 bail and is awaiting a March 1 court hearing. His bail was initially $85,000, the court records show. Kristin Ashley Delmar, 24, is charged with theft at Boscov's department store in Frederick, The Frederick News Post reports.
A Gaithersburg woman faces charges of theft between $1,000 and $10,000 for allegedly shoplifting from a Frederick department store last week, The Frederick News-Post reports. Police said Kristin Ashley Delmar, 24, of the first block of Hilton Court, stole more than $1,600 worth of merchandise from Boscov's deparment store, according to the report. Store employees stopped Delmar in the parking lot as she was trying to leave. She allegedly was found to have 6 rings, 26 necklaces, 17 watches, 5 pairs of earrings and 9 pieces of clothing in her purse, according to the report. Gaithersburg announces an "Anti-Theft Vehicle” program.
Burglars be warned, the city of Gaithersburg has a new tool to catch you in the act. The city announced Tuesday the launch of its "Anti-Theft Vehicle" program, featuring a vehicle operated by the police and containing valuable items to draw attention to it. The "bait car" is equipped to immediately notify officers when a theft or attempted theft is made, and the criminal activity of the suspect is video recorded, according to the city. It will frequently be left unlocked and in locations identified as a high theft from vehicle area. The most common occurring crime in Gaithersburg is theft, city police spokesperson Dan Lane told Patch. Jason Elliot Thomas, 31, has been arrested for a series of thefts in Germantown.
A 31-year-old Gaithersburg man has been arrested for a series of vehicle thefts outside Kindercare Daycare Center that took place between Dec. 30 and Feb. 24. Police say Jason Elliot Thomas, 31, of the unit block of County Court in Gaithersburg, is responsible for several thefts from vehicles outside the daycare facility, located at 13230 Clopper Mill Rd. in Germantown, between these dates. According to a press statement released by police, the "Investigation revealed that parents/guardians would leave their vehicles unlocked while they picked up their children.
